My son’s fourth word was “dip.” His first word was “Oxley” (our dog’s name) followed by “Welby” (pet wallaby’s name), “Dada” (I’m sorry, did HE give birth to you?!?!?!?!) and finally “dip”. Okay, to be fair, I would have been equally proud of “Mama” or “dip” – he’s mine for sure.
Now that “dip” constitutes its own food group in our house, it’s a challenge to come up with variations that still make me feel like he’s still eating well. We try to keep juice for special occasions, but encourage the eating of fruit instead. I also want him to get enough protein (greek yogurt, FTW) with as little sugar as possible – enter my perfect fruit dip compromise.
Ingredients:
1 cup Greek yogurt
1 Tablespoon agave syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
Directions:
Stir/whip all ingredients together. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Serve with fruit or crackers (we really like this with the Smoked Gouda Triscuits – it sounds weird, but trust me).
Good luck keeping grubby kid fingers out of it.
